Aeon Monsters (イオンモンスター Ion Monsutā) are required for the Advent Summon of an Advent Monster. When the Level of the Aeon monster is lower than the Level of the Advent Monster, by adding the Levels of the other Advent Materials on the field, as well as the proper Field Spell Card, you can Summon the Advent Monster.
Much like Tuner Monsters, Dark Tuner Monsters, and Pendulum Monsters, Aeon monsters are primarily a secondary Type of Effect Monsters, but they can also be a secondary Type of Normal Monsters. Like the first of these two, there are cards that can treat non-Aeon monsters as Aeons, including themselves, meaning Aligning, like Tuning, Dark Tuning and Synergizing, is NOT considered an effect, and cannot be negated with cards such as "Skill Drain".
Like Tuners, Aeon monsters prefer a low range of Levels, due to having to add their Level to the other Materials.
Some Advent Monsters require specific Aeon monsters to be Advent Summoned.
