A Dark Bind Summon is the act of Special Summoning a Dark Bind Monster from the Extra Deck.
How to Dark Bind Summon[]
During their Main Phase, the turn player can Dark Bind Summon a Dark Bind Monster from their Extra Deck by sending face-up monsters they control to the Graveyard as Dark Bind Materials; the number of Dark Bind Materials must be equal to its Dark Bind Rating. Afterwards, the Dark Bind Monster is Summoned in either an Extra Monster Zone, or a Main Monster Zone either a Dark Bind Monster or Link Monster is pointing to, in face-up Attack Position.
Because a Dark Bind Rating is always negative, a Dark Bind Monster cannot be treated as multiple materials equal to its Number, for the Summon of a Dark Bind Monster or Link Monster. When Dark Bind Summoning a Dark Bind Monster, the number of materials used are subtracted from either its original Dark Bind Rating, or a base of zero.
Examples[]
Dark Bind Summoning From a Base of Zero[]
If a Dark Bind Monster with a Dark Bind Rating of -2 lists the following materials:
- 0 - 2 monsters
The turn player must send two face-up monsters they control to the Graveyard, and the number of monsters used will be subtracted from zero, resulting in -2 as the final product.
Dark Bind Summoing Using a Dark Bind Monster as a Base[]
If a Dark Bind Monster with a Dark Bind Rating of -6 lists the following materials:
- 1 Dark Bind Monster - 1+ monsters
The turn player must send two or more face-up monsters they control to the Graveyard, including at least one Dark Bind Monster. In the aforementioned scenario, the following methods can be used:
- Using a regular Link Monster as multiple materials equal to its Link Rating, and subtracting its Link Rating from the Dark Bind Number. Examples include:
- A BIND- -2 monster + a LINK-4 monster = BIND- -6 monster (-2 - 4 = -6)
- A BIND- -3 monster + a monster + a LINK-2 monster = BIND- -6 (-3 - (1 + 2) = -6)
- A BIND- -4 monster + a BIND- -2 monster + a LINK-4 monster = BIND- -6 (-4 - (-2 + 4) = -6)
