Ketsuban (ケツバン Ketsuban) is a recurring antagonist of a planned Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS fanfiction by Taylor Gorrell. A strange user of Link VRAINS with a corrupted avatar, he wanders from place to place to make whatever living he can.

Appearance[]
Ketsuban's avatar is an 18-year-old man with pale skin and dark green hair with an orange fringe, but his avatar frequently glitches out in various parts of his body. Due to his avatar's corruption, the colors of his eyes are incorrectly displayed with a purple sclera, black iris, and white pupil. His outfit resembles a shirt, coat, and pants colored shades of blue and red, but parts of his arms, legs, and torso appear mutated into patches of dull gray "skin" with black lines that make the patches resemble the skin of an Ignis. He wears a black visor over his eyes, but the right side of the lens is broken off. His real world body's appearance is not shown.
Personality[]
Ketsuban is a soft-spoken person with a very disinterested view of the world around, rarely feeling motivation to do much of anything that he doesn't need to do to survive. He prefers to keep to himself and doesn't pay much attention to the damage his abilities cause, callously brushing off any problems he causes. Though usually civil, his speech carries a hint of malice at all times and he is quick to respond to any perceived threats with threats of his own.
Abilities[]
The glitches that came from Ketsuban's avatar are capable of spreading, which can distort the code of Link VRAINS wherever he goes. This can result in structures being destroyed and data being corrupted, giving him the ability to "hack" systems by simply corroding defense measures. Since most of his own code is corrupted, however, Ketsuban is also able to read corrupted data as if there was nothing wrong with it and even repair it by absorbing the corruption. His glitches also sometimes cause him to teleport, which can be used as a dodge. For reasons unknown (possibly just a result of his glitch "hack"), he has access to Cyberse monsters.
Etymology[]
"Ketsuban" literally means "missing number". The name is also the Japanese name of the infamous glitch Pokemon Missingno., chosen due to this character's glitchy nature.

Decks[]
Ketsuban plays an "Empulse" Deck, using the shared ? ATK stat of most of his Deck to his advantage as well as disrupting the opponent whenever possible. Many of the Cyberse monsters he has access to also possess ? ATK to gain benefits from his cards. Uniquely, the ATK gauge often glitches out when these monsters are Summoned, only being fixed when their stats are properly calculated. Alongside this support, he runs assorted Thunder monsters and associated support.
