"Pixel HERO" (P・HERO(ピクセルヒーロー) Pikuseru Hīrō) is another "HERO" sub-Archetype, and one of two "HERO" sub-Archetypes created by Taylor Gorrell. They are used by Kohaku Yudin, the main protagonist of Yu-Gi-Oh! GSTART. Similar to the Elemental HEROes combining varied effects with quick and easy Fusion Summoning, the Pixel HEROes combine varied effects with quick and easy Composition Summoning.

Play Style[]

Pixel HEROes are as varied as video games themselves, having numerous effects to aid them. All Pixel HEROes possess the same effect in their texts: "During your Main Phase: You can Special Summon this card (from the Graveyard). If this card would be sent to the Graveyard after this effect has been used (twice/X times): Banish it. Reset this effect if this card is in the Graveyard again after being banished." This effect represents the Life System in video games: Run out of lives, and you can't come back to life. The reset effect symbolizes resetting a video game and getting back all your lives. Like other HEROes, Pixel HEROes are varied in their ATK and DEF levels.

Reference to Video Games[]

The Pixel HEROes and their related cards are all based on heroes from various video game series, primarily those that have been released on Nintendo consoles. Many of them have been featured as playable characters in the Super Smash Bros. series of video games. Characters mentioned after slashes are Echo Fighters of the character in question and are represented as alternate arts of the associated monster.
