"Shift Counters" are a special type of counter used on Timeshifted Monsters. Each Timeshifted Monster is Summoned with a certain number of Shift Counters, which are removed during each End Phase, and a Timeshifted Monster is Tributed and sent to the bottom of the Deck if they do not have a Shift Counter to remove, or are simply unable to. Shift Counters can also be used as payment for the activation of some Timeshifted Monsters' effects, similar to Xyz Monsters using their Xyz Materials as costs for their own effects. However, this requires a bit of strategy, as spending Shift Counters will reduce the number of turns a Timeshifted Monster can stay on the field.
